Biography

Vladan Stiha was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia to a family of artists. He trained in Belgrade, Vienna, and Rome before leaving Europe after WW2 to settle in Argentina and then Brazil, whre he gained a reputation as an artist and teacher. He and his wife emigrated to the US, eventually settling in Santa Fe in 1971, where they opened the Stiha Gallery in the La Fonda Hotel. He is best known for his colorful landscapes, portraits and southwest genre paintings.
