Biography
Sheldon Van Etten was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sheldon enlisted in the Armed forces and was stationed in Germany. Touring Europe inspired inspirations which he found flowing from everywhere. He began charging his fellow GI’s for painting their girlfriends and families or other paintings when they asked. Thus provided the funds for travel and creating memories that have reminisced in his mind over a lifetime. Stateside Sheldon studied and received an A.A in Commercial Art, from Spokane Falls Community College, Washington State. Sheldon taught airbrush for night classes and acrylic painting at the Mc Coy Art Stores in the Spokane, Washington area. Private lessons have been on his venue also.
Sheldon was privileged to become an illustrator for Pacific Press Publishing in both books and magazines. Critical acclaims and awards have been given from the Cheney Cowles Museum and the world renowned New York Art Exhibition. Sheldon’s original paintings and pastels along with Reproductions are seen in both private and corporate collections nationally and internationally. They have been sold by appointment only in the prestigious Trails West, in Sun Valley, Idaho and including the Luxurious Davenport Hotel’s Art once privately owned Gallery in Spokane, Washington. Sheldon’s art has been displayed in other galleries throughout the Northwest and the greater New York area along with numerous juries and invitational shows.
