About Dr. James Harken, Founder
Dr. James Harken began collecting in 1974. In 1977 he opened J-Harken Myers Fine Art Gallery in the Pacific Northwest which he operated for several years. In closing this gallery, it allowed him more time and freedom to continue his dental practice and travel within the art world.
In addition to his personal collecting, Dr. Harken was instrumental in founding the Spokane Valley Arts Council in 2005. In 2013, Dr. Harken was formally recognized for his effort and contribution to the community and was honored with “keys to the City of Spokane Valley.”
